Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support the 01450 GCMG McAlister Pediatrics – General. The role includes rooming patients, taking vital signs, basic lab tasks, and assisting physicians with procedures.

You will collect specimens, process tests per CLIA standards, administer vaccines, handle referrals and scheduling, and maintain a clean, compliant work area. Education typically requires a high school diploma and MA program completion; BLS may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or DD214-based clinical training.
• BLS certification may be required where indicated and must be obtained within 45 days in some divisions.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies while delivering patient care.
• Rooming tasks: vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely.
• Handles duties such as refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross-trained for duties across clinic specialties.
• Maintains effective communication and appropriate escalation.
• Keeps work area clean and stocked; ensures equipment functioning.
