Job summary

PM Pediatrics is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks in a pediatric urgent care setting under physician supervision. The role includes front desk duties, greeting and registering patients, obtaining medical history and vital signs, and coordinating care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior Medical Assistant experience or education.
• Knowledge of EKG placement for children.
• Ability to obtain lab tests via nasal swab and venipuncture.
• Demonstrate a professional and friendly demeanor.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Comfortable with computers and Microsoft Office.
• Willing to learn medical software.
• Experience with medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
• Greet and register patients on arrival.
• Obtain medical history, vital signs, and intake.
• Prepare patients for X-rays.
• Perform and document routine labs, such as throat and urine cultures.
• Irrigate and assist with wounds.
• Assist in quality control testing in the lab.
• Be an integral part of the patient care team and assist with patient care within the scope of practice.
• Keep exam rooms and front reception stocked with supplies.
• Maintain order and cleanliness of the waiting room area.
• Practice standard safety practices and precautions.
• Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies and notifying medical team.
• Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes to management team.
• Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
• Enhance health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and challenging requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Assist patients with complaints and take an active role in service recovery when needed.
• Perform other duties as needed, including applying splints and assisting the nurse and/or provider in other medical procedures.
