Job summary

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Medical Assistant to support multiple disciplines within the department, delivering direct and indirect patient care and helping maintain a safe environment. You will perform tasks under supervision of licensed clinicians and contribute to accurate vital signs and efficient patient flow.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of MA experience or completion of an externship, a high school diploma, and BLS certification within 30 days.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in medical assistant, patient care tech or equivalent or completed Medical Assistant Externship at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited school or EMT or patient care technician training

Responsibilities

• Assists in basic delivery of patient care as assigned/directed by licensed professionals, using age-appropriate standards and infection control
• Completes assigned tasks/orders from provider
• Demonstrates competency during intake process, including accurate vital signs
• May perform phlebotomy, simple medication or vaccine administration, spirometry, and radiographs under physician direction
• Utilizes strong organization and communication to prioritize, deliver, and document patient care
• Performs multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining customer service standards
• Serves as liaison between patients/families and department staff, greeting and updating on delays
• Performs administrative duties to promote efficient operations (opening/closing, phones, waiting area materials)
• Understands infection control, safety and OSHA procedures
• Demonstrates age-specific competencies (neonate to adult)
