Job summary

Pediatric Associates Family of Companies is seeking a Floater Medical Assistant with Lab responsibilities to support clinical teams across multiple offices in Florida. The role includes phlebotomy, laboratory testing, and assisting clinicians in pediatric care, with responsibility for specimen handling and patient intake.

The position requires MA diploma/certification or 3 years MA experience, valid BLS, and a driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Knowledge of universal precautions in medical safety
  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Excellent communication with patients and staff
  • Ability to respond to emergencies

Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, and Spirometry
  • Reports results to clinician and flags critical values
  • Performs phlebotomy including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks
  • Prepares specimens for reference lab and handles labeling, results, and billing
  • Conducts quality control and instrument maintenance
  • Records patient vitals and updates medical records with allergies and meds
  • Interviews patients and records history and chief complaint
  • Obtains external medical records for clinician review
  • Prepares patient for examination and ensures orders are documented
  • Supports clinicians with age-appropriate screenings and procedures
  • Vaccines reconciliation and education; administers vaccines and injections
  • Completes follow-up tasks and coordinates referrals and forms
  • Willingness to travel and float between offices
