Job summary

RiverValley Behavioral Health Children’s Hospital in Owensboro, KY seeks an Inpatient Nurse to provide essential care for youth in acute psychiatric crisis. You will administer medications, perform assessments, respond to emergencies and support individualized treatment goals within a trauma-informed, CARF-accredited setting.

Responsibilities include delivering nursing care, participating in rounds, documenting in the EMR, supervising BHTs, and educating families on care continuity.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted LPN or RN license in Kentucky.
• BSN preferred.
• Experience in pediatric or adolescent mental health nursing is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care for youth in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting.
• Assess patient needs, implement nursing interventions and respond to emergencies.
• Administer medications, monitor side effects and document outcomes.
• Conduct nursing assessments and participate in rounds and team meetings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic interventions and emotional support during behavioral crises.
• Maintain accurate medication administration records and follow safety protocols.
• Supervise and guide Behavioral Health Technicians as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on medications and discharge planning.
