Job summary

Phoenix Children's Pharmacy Intern at the Arrowhead Campus in Glendale supports inpatient pharmacy operations, gaining hands-on pediatric hospital experience under supervision of registered pharmacists. You will participate in the medication use process and provide patient-focused services.

Qualified candidates are enrolled in the first or second year of an accredited PharmD program with graduation anticipated in 2029 or 2030; regular schedule includes one 4-hour shift weekly, two 8-hour shifts

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a PharmD program (P1 or P2) with anticipated graduation in 2029 or 2030.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, dispense, and deliver medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Label and prepare medications following Board of Pharmacy regulations and department policy.
• Deliver medications to patient areas and restock supplies per timelines.
• Ensure proper dose, route and generic substitutions as prescribed.
• Complete controlled substance documentation and investigational drug study records as required.
• Act as liaison between Pharmacy and medical/nursing staff for drug therapy issues.
• Ensure appropriateness of medication doses based on patient factors (weight, age, allergies).
• Perform medication reconciliation and report adverse drug events as needed.
• Support unit-based clinical teams and participate in quality assurance activities.
