Job summary

Children's National Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Pediatric Hematology to join a dedicated team. The role focuses on medication use, formulary oversight, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and researchers to optimize patient outcomes in hematology and oncology.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, monitoring drug therapy, and educating staff while supporting research, quality improvement, and collaborative practice development.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. degree and licensure eligibility in DC; MD/VA eligibility as specialty-dependent (timeframe often 90 days).
• Board certification (BPS) may be required depending on specialty.
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric, specialized, academic, or clinical pharmacy experience; 6 years if no PGY2 residency.

Responsibilities

• Review medication orders, oversee packaging, labeling and distribution.
• Provide drug therapy monitoring; intervene on dosing, interactions, and adverse effects.
• Document interventions and communicate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead staff education, training of students and residents; participate in QA/QI initiatives.
• Assist with formulary management and guidance on evidence-based therapies.
