Job summary

Responsibilities

• Protect patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining peace and order at Nemours Children’s Hospital – Delaware (NCH-D).
• Prevent, detect, investigate and report unlawful and unsafe activities within the hospital and contiguous properties.
• Apply non-violent verbal intervention and de-escalation to mitigate disruptive behavior.
• Provide escorts for unauthorized individuals and prevent patient elopement and abduction.
• Conduct fire, evacuation and emergency drills as required by state and accrediting bodies.
• Investigate violations of Nemours Standards of Behavior as directed by leadership.
• Provide access control and implement visitor restrictions as needed.
• Provide safe vehicle transportation or ambulance support for patients and families.
• Monitor inpatient patients and escort those in custody or with risky behavior; perform patient searches and room safety checks.
• Offer first responder assessment of threats to staff, patients, and families.
