Nemours Children’s Health is seeking an armed Constable II to join the Public Safety team in Wilmington, DE. The role focuses on protecting staff, patients, visitors, and associates, operating in an armed capacity with a firearm and taser.

Responsibilities include patrolling hospital premises, enforcing access control, performing inspections, and responding to alarms. The position requires state licensing, relevant experience, and ongoing certifications (CPR/AED, Tasers).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 1 year of specialized training.
• State of Delaware Constable License required.
• Minimum 1 year security or law enforcement experience.
• Must have a valid State Driver’s license and operate hospital vehicles.
• Must pass criminal background and MMPI testing.

Responsabilités

• Patrol hospital buildings, stairwells, and grounds to monitor interior and exterior areas.
• Prevent, detect, investigate, and report unlawful and unsafe activities within the Hospital and adjacent properties.
• Apply non-violent verbal intervention and de-escalation to mitigate disruptive behavior; separate combative individuals.
• Provide first responder threat assessments for staff, patients, and families.
• Conduct fire, evacuation, and emergency drills per regulatory requirements.
• Provide access control and enforce visitor restrictions for hospital areas.
• One-on-one patient monitoring and escorts for in-custody visitors; supervise safety.
• Exercise detention and arrest powers when necessary.
• Manage Public Safety entry stations and control campus access.
• Respond to alarms (doors, motion, duress, fire, medical).
• Escort unauthorized individuals off campus; prevent elopement/abduction.
• Support crowds and evacuations; ensure safe vehicle transport when needed.
• Parking enforcement and traffic control.
