Job summary

Nemours-Children is seeking a General Surgery Specialty Nurse to provide specialized nursing care in ambulatory and outpatient settings. The role uses the nursing process, adapts to growth and development across ages, and collaborates with the health care team to deliver high-quality care.

The position requires a BSN, Delaware licensure (or compact), and at least three years of pediatric experience with BLS. Schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, in a surgical outpatient environment.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Delaware (or compact state) RN licensure required; PA/NJ licensure within 30 days.
• Three years pediatric clinical experience.
• American Heart Association BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with minor surgical procedures during office hours.
• Perform ongoing assessment and revise interdisciplinary care plans.
• Identify needs for resources and arrange referrals.
• Respond to patient calls and explain regimens after physician discussion.
• Share knowledge with the team and collaborate with Nursing Education.
• Act as liaison between families and health care team.
• Apply Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies in subspecialty care.
• Contribute to standards of care development for the specialty.
• Provide care across ages: neonates to adults.
• Pursue learning goals for professional growth and participate in QA programs.
