Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Hyde Park, at Comer Children’s Hospital, seeks a Staff Nurse – Float Team in the Pediatric Float Pool. This 0.9 FTE night shift participates in patient-centered care, assessment, planning, and collaboration with the care team.

The nurse provides medication administration, documentation, and discharge planning to support ongoing pediatric patient care within a world-class academic health system.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience.
• Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN Illinois license.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care for patients whose needs do not require a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care.
• Provides input into the development of clinical paths with assigned Case Manager.
• Prepares and administers medication/treatment according to physician orders and ensures patient safety.
• Documents patient care in records and coordinates care across the multidisciplinary team.
• Incorporates discharge planning into the plan of care to ensure smooth transition from hospital to home.
