Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Hyde Park is seeking a Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) to provide essential patient care under RN supervision, perform activities of daily living, and help maintain a safe, clean environment.

The role is a registry position at 0.1 FTE, night shift 7:30pm–7:00am in the Pediatric Float Pool, with required HCWR listing and CPR/BLS certification; strong communication and physical stamina are needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be listed on the IDPH Health Care Worker Registry (HCWR) as an Illinois CNA or a nursing student who has passed the written competency exam.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Ability to read and write, perform simple mathematical calculations, follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to stand/walk, lift up to 50 lbs during duty.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities including vital signs and basic tests as trained.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Assists with ambulation and nourishment/fluids.
• Collects patient specimens and assists with weighing patients.
• Assists in discharge and transfer preparation of patients.
• Maintains patient environment and room readiness; handles supplies and equipment.
• Documents activities accurately in patient records and logs.
• Initiates CPR when needed and calls for medical support.
• Performs receptionist duties for the assigned area as requested.
