Job Overview

The Pediatric EFDA plays a key role in providing comprehensive dental care for children. This involves assisting dentists during procedures, performing expanded clinical functions as permitted under Pennsylvania law, and creating a positive, educational, and engaging environment for pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate communication and education to pediatric patients and their parents.
• Ensure children feel comfortable during visits and understand their treatment plans.
• Assist in behavior management techniques for young or nervous patients.
• Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures.
• Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Prepare and set up equipment, instruments, and materials.
• Place sealants, fillings, and temporary crowns under supervision.
• Apply topical fluoride and preventive treatments.
• Record patient notes in compliance with HIPAA.
• Manage dental inventory and supplies.
• Schedule appointments and follow up with families.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care.

Minimum Requirements

• Pennsylvania EFDA license.
• Radiology certification.
• Completion of an accredited EFDA training program.
• Experience in pediatric dentistry preferred.
