Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support the Nursing team in providing patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.

Duties include cleaning equipment and rooms, preparing admission areas, stocking supplies, assisting with patient hygiene, turning and ambulating patients, and entering daily charting. The role is 40 hours per week on the day shift at Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit.
• Set up rooms for patient admission.
• Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit.
• Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients.
• Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing.
• Turn, position and ambulate patients.
• Enter daily patient record charting in computer.
• Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair.
• Transport equipment, specimens and supplies.
• Perform basic CPR as required.
