Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks a registered nurse to deliver high-quality inpatient care under the nursing process. The role supports novice-level practice across the life span with independent judgment for self and delegated care.

The CAPE program advances professional development, with Level 1 for nurses with less than 12 months of experience, and structured progression. Night shift, 36 hours weekly, non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice or multi-state license through eNLC.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates safety and continuity of care using documentation and handoff tools/processes.
• Creates plan of care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnoses, intervention, and evaluation of outcomes.
• Identifies patient safety concerns and uses appropriate resources.
• Provides education based on patient learning needs.
• Incorporates patient individuality and mutuality in care delivery.
• Performs patient assessment and documentation.
• Uses teach-back method to evaluate education effectiveness.
