Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital's Emergency Medicine department provides 24-hour care to infants, children and young adults with urgent and emergency medical, surgical and traumatic conditions. The ED serves birth through 21 years and operates as a major pediatric center in Massachusetts.

We are seeking a patient care assistant to support clinicians, perform routine vitals, document information in computer systems, and assist during examinations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year CA experience, CNA/MA/PCT/EMT certification, or Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation.
• Good communication skills and ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic direct care to patients under regular supervision as delegated by a Registered Nurse.
• Assist patients with feeding and hygiene, obtain/record routine vitals (temperature, pulse, BP) and related duties.
• Obtain records, files and results for appointments and enter information into computer systems.
• Perform general office support tasks.
• Assist clinicians during examinations by obtaining and recording routine information as needed.
• Transport patients, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Work 36 hours with rotating nights and every other weekend.
