American Pediatric Dental Group is seeking a compassionate Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) for our pediatric practice in Florida. You will support doctors during procedures, prepare rooms, and maintain strict infection control while delivering a positive, child-friendly experience.

Ideal candidates hold EFDA/EDDA certification, radiography and CPR credentials, with a focus on safety and excellent patient service.

Qualifications

• Must have EFDA/EDDA certification as required by state regulations.
• Dental Radiology (X-Ray) certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Nitrous Oxide certification may be required by state.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during restorative, surgical, and pediatric procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care.
• Maintain infection control and sterilization standards.
• Ensure treatment rooms are clean, organized, and stocked.
• Take impressions and perform expanded duties per state regulations.

Job Summary

American Pediatric Dental Group is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and patient-focused Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our growing pediatric dental team. As an EFDA, you'll play an essential role in creating positive dental experiences for children while supporting our doctors in delivering exceptional clinical care. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with kids, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in providing outstanding patient care.

Schedule

• Monday: 9:15 AM - 1:30 PM | 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM
• Tuesday: 8:15 AM - 1:00 PM | 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
• Wednesday: 8:15 AM - 1:00 PM | 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
• Thursday: 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM | 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM
• Friday: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM | 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM (Note- when you work on a Saturday, you will have a day off during the week)

What You'll Do

Clinical Support

• Assist dentists during restorative, surgical, and other pediatric dental procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care
• Maintain infection control and sterilization standards
• Ensure treatment rooms are clean, organized, and fully stocked

Expanded Functions

• Perform expanded duties as permitted by state regulations, including:
  • Placing and contouring restorations
  • Taking impressions
  • Applying sealants
  • Taking dental radiographs (X-rays)
  • Assisting with patient charting and clinical documentation

Patient Care

• Welcome and prepare patients for treatment
• Help children feel comfortable and at ease throughout their visit
• Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment instructions
• Deliver exceptional customer service to every patient and family

Office Support

• Maintain accurate patient records
• Assist with scheduling and appointment confirmations when needed
• Monitor and help maintain dental supply inventory

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA/EDDA) certification as required by state regulations
• Dental Radiology (X-Ray) Certification
• Nitrous Oxide Certification (if required by state)
• Current CPR Certification

Preferred

• Pediatric dental experience
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)
• Experience working in a dental or healthcare environment
