Job summary

Timberlane Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is hiring a full-time Pediatric Dental Assistant to support busy clinical teams in our Burlington/South Burlington area offices. You will set up procedures, take and develop x-rays, manage patient charts, and assist dentists with routine pediatric dentistry tasks.

Qualifications

  • Must register with the Office of Professional Regulations within 30 days of hire.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • X-ray certification obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • High school diploma is required.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and prepares for procedures, laying out materials; takes and develops x-rays as needed; reviews and completes patient charts; enters charges in the QSI system.
  • Assesses dental condition and needs of patient using medical history review, dental charting, and charge entries.
  • Delivers direct patient care with the dentist, performing routine procedures including x-rays, sealants, fluorides, impressions, and model pouring.
  • Documents dental history or chief complaint and reports observations to staff; ensures follow-up on results.
  • Assists with emergency measures during treatment.
  • Greets and seats patients, establishes rapport, and ensures comfortable visits.
  • Provides exceptional customer service for patients and families and maintains professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Upholds company values and standards of conduct.
  • Follows HIPAA and OSHA regulations and maintains professional appearance.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sets up and prepares for procedures, laying out appropriate materials; taking & developing x-rays as needed; reviews and completes patient charts; enters charges on the QSI system.
  • Assesses dental condition and needs of patient; uses patient screening procedures, to include medical history review, dental charting, and charge entries.
  • Delivers direct patient care to patients as assigned either with the dentist or at the direction of the dentist, using established dental procedures; performs routine treatment procedures, including x-rays, application of sealants and fluorides, taking impressions, pouring models, and related procedures.
  • Documents dental history or chief complaint; records and reports pertinent observations and patient reactions to dental staff, as appropriate; documents lab procedures and ensures follow-up on results.
  • Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatment of patients.
  • Greets and seats patient, establishing rapport and putting the patient at ease. Dismisses patient following treatment.
  • Provides exceptional customer service for external and internal customers including our patients and families, business associates, Timberlane staff, etc. Demonstrates integrity, compassion, and respect when working with patients, families and staff members.
  • Upholds Timberlane Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics values and standards of conduct.
  • Protects the privacy and confidentiality of patients, families, staff and Timberlane Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics proprietary business and financial information.
  • Met Timberlane Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics expectations as outlined in the Employee Handbook including timely arrival to the office and meeting appropriate attendance expectations.
  • Follows all regulatory guidelines and procedures relevant to her/his responsibilities (e.g. HIPAA, OSHA).
  • Maintains a professional appearance that is appropriate for her/his position and work environment.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
