Job summary

Banner Health's Perioperative Services at Banner Desert Medical Center seeks an experienced Surgical Technologist for the Pediatric Surgery department. The CVOR Surgical Technologist scrubs on two specialties and assists the physician with advanced tasks, including cardiopulmonary bypass support and vascular access, in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required with current BLS certification.
Surgical technologist certification and 1–2 years of experience, or 3–4 years in the role.
Must be registered with State Regulatory Agency where applicable.
Proficient to scrub in at least two surgical specialties.
Ability to stay calm and focused in stressful emergent situations.
Organized, conscientious, and responsive to surgeon and patient needs.
Commitment to staying current with developments in the field.

Responsibilities

Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling instruments and supplies and ensuring instrument readiness.
Anticipates surgeon’s needs and scrubs in at least two specialties.
Maintains aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout procedures.
Ensures accuracy of surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
Assists with OR turnover and stocking of supplies and cleaning rooms.
Participates in or leads training and orientation of staff and students.
Provides department support for administrative tasks as needed.
