Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks an experienced RN II for pediatric transport and critical care. You will provide professional nursing care to critically ill/injured infants and children during transport, leading nursing staff, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining state-of-the-art transport care.

Requirements include SC nursing licensure, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and completion of an advanced trauma course within 1 year.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and SC nursing licensure.
• Minimum 5 years pediatric critical care experience in NICU/PICU/PCICU or equivalent.
• BSN degree preferred; RN with Associate or Diploma must enroll in BSN program within two years and obtain BSN within four years.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications required or must be obtained within 1 year of orientation.
• Complete an advanced trauma course (e.g., PATC or TNCC) within 1 year of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Manage comprehensive nursing care for patients (within specialty area) with needs ranging from uncomplicated to complex and rapidly changing.
• Implement age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient needs.
• Organize and prioritize nursing care plans considering the needs of the patients and other staff members.
• Utilize established outcome measures to evaluate effectiveness of care.
• Demonstrate a commitment to quality patient care, environment, and professional development.
• Actively and effectively function in a leadership role as directed.
• Participate in research studies and performance improvement initiatives to improve patient care and/or organizational processes.
