Nemours is seeking a Transport Communication Specialist for a full-time, overnight shift (7P-7A) to join the 24/7 pediatric critical care transport team at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida. The role ensures accurate and timely communications among the transport team, referring physicians, and hospital staff to coordinate urgent patient transfers.

Qualifications

• One year of training beyond high school diploma required.
• EMT or EMD experience required, paramedic experience preferred.
• Must have knowledge of medical terminology.
• Previous communications center experience a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years experience required.

Responsabilités

• Responds promptly and courteously to incoming transport requests from referring physicians via the Transport 1-800 hot line, other in-house lines, and/or in person.
• Utilizes guidelines to assist physicians and make recommendations on transport mode, team configuration, and use of Code 3, lights and sirens.
• Coordinates with vendors to arrange back-up ambulances and helicopter requests.
• Works with the Patient Intake Coordinator to elicit accurate and complete information for intake.
• Facilitates conference calls among transport clinician, MCO, and referring physicians.
• Communicates acceptance of transport requests to Nursing Supervisors and Admissions, as directed.
• Maintains contact with ambulance and ground crews during missions.
• Documents all communications and completes the EPIC intake/disposition process.
• Answers and facilitates communications on the Kid Admit line.
• Coordinates multiple referral requests for air and ground transport.
• Participates in Quality Improvement programs to improve service provision.
