Job summary

Shriners Children’s is seeking a full‑time Pediatric Intensivist to join our Dayton, Ohio team. The role focuses on the medical management of acutely burned and critically ill pediatric patients, collaborating with burn, plastic, and surgical teams.

The position includes a 1.0 FTE commitment with on‑site clinical duties and periodic back‑up call coverage. The candidate will work within a 7‑bed unit staffed by surgeons, intensivists, APPs, and residents, contributing to patient care, education,

Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics residency.
• Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine completed or near completion.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic critical illnesses in pediatric patients.
• Provide advanced life support, including ventilation and ECMO when needed.
• Perform critical procedures such as intubation and central line placement.
• Coordinate with subspecialists, nurses, and therapists for comprehensive care.
• Stabilize critically ill patients with surgical teams as needed.
• Communicate prognosis and treatment plans with families compassionately.
• Educate and mentor trainees in pediatric critical care medicine.
• Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
