Job summary

University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool. The role involves floating across PICU, NICU, and other pediatric units, serving as a charge nurse resource and supporting emergency response teams.

Night shifts, with a 0.6 FTE schedule, and weekend requirements are included. Eligibility includes MN RN license and BLS, with 1+ year pediatric or critical care experience, or consideration of new

Qualifications

• MN Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) is required.
• 1+ year of current Pediatric RN or Critical Care RN experience is required.
• Or New Grad with Internship/Capstone/Preceptor-ship in Pediatric Critical Care considered.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.
• Involve patient, family and health team members in data gathering.
• Use ongoing, systematic process to gather biological, psychological, spiritual and social data.
• Prioritize interventions based on acuity, resources, and family needs.
• Initiate patient/family teaching as appropriate to age and readiness.
• Collaborate or make referrals if unable to perform safely.
• Use full range of therapeutic modalities to support healing, from less to more invasive.
• Involve patient and family in evaluating care and communicate across settings.
