Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s is seeking a Registered Nurse II for the Center for Acute Care Nephrology to provide dialysis care to critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients across PICU, CICU, and NICU. The role involves 12-hour night shifts with weekend rotation, collaborating with nephrologists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate renal care.

Qualifications

• Current Ohio RN license or eligibility for Ohio RN licensure.
• BSN preferred, consistent with position requirements.
• Critical care nursing experience preferred.
• Experience with dialysis, CRRT, or other renal replacement therapies is highly desirable.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized dialysis care and renal replacement therapy to critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients in the PICU, CICU, and NICU.
• Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients throughout dialysis treatments, recognizing and responding to changes in clinical status.
• Collaborate with nephrology providers and critical care teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Safely manage dialysis equipment, vascular access, fluid balance, and treatment-related interventions according to protocols.
• Monitor patient responses to therapy, identify potential complications, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
• Educate and support patients’ families while providing compassionate, family-centered care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow standards for patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement.
• Participate in ongoing education to maintain expertise in dialysis therapies for critically ill children.
