Job summary

Wyandot Memorial Hospital is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Therapy Services team. The position is a contingent role providing outpatient therapy with a focus on pediatric patients, and may support inpatient services as needed based on staffing.

Day shifts with occasional weekend requirements; 16 hours per two-week pay period. You will work under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist to improve patients’ daily living and independence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program required.
• Completion of NBCOT exam required to use the title “COTA.”
• Current CPR certification required.
• Minimum of two years of recent, relevant experience preferred or equivalent clinical experience under supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Pediatric experience required; lymphedema experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform required skills and competencies.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and observation skills.
• Ability to work one-on-one with patients while demonstrating compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle as a role model for patients and staff.
• Proficient computer skills, including documentation and communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy services under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist following patient evaluation.
• Assist patients with rehabilitative activities to improve daily living and functional abilities.
• Accurately observe, document, and report patient progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Deliver care across outpatient, and inpatient settings.
• Support departmental operations and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention, safety, and organizational policies and procedures.
• Participate in required training, including equipment use, safety, and fire prevention programs.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
