Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital seeks a clinical pharmacy specialist to manage and promote activities ensuring the medication use process and to mentor pharmacists in pediatric specialty services. The role includes direct patient care to optimize drug therapy across age groups.

The position emphasizes participation in rounds, formulary stewardship, and education of pharmacy staff and trainees, with a focus on improving patient outcomes in a tertiary pediatric setting.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist knowledge of medications and clinical therapeutics in pediatrics.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and participate in rounds.

Responsibilities

• Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds with medical specialty services.
• Oversee coordination of drug therapy for patients including those requiring extracorporeal therapies.
• Perform therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacokinetics monitoring per guidelines.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for areas of responsibility.
• Educate parents/patients, caregivers, pharmacists, and pharmacy residents and students.

Education

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy

Licensed Pharmacist in Texas or eligible for licensure
