RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick is hiring a Pediatric Care Tech (PCT) for the Pediatrics Unit. You will support RNs with hands-on care, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and help maintain a safe, compassionate environment for patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Nursing assistant experience or CNA certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and provide nursing care including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, bedside care (bathing, mouth care, skin care).
• Monitor vital signs (BP, pulse, resp, temp) to track health status.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
• Follow infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans.
• Support emergency response with Basic Life Support (BLS) skills when needed.
• Provide age-appropriate patient care ensuring safety and comfort.
• Collaborate on the plan of care from admission to discharge.

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS,performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this CCT opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a 5 shifts every 2 weeksschedule from 3pm to 1130p.m. and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
