Overview

The Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time, non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary based on candidate interests and training, including outpatient pediatric cardiology and inpatient services. Opportunities for clinical research and collaboration are available through the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute of Chicago. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Job Summary

The Medical Director of Heart Center Quality Improvement oversees and manages overall quality improvement performance. Collaborates with various leadership teams to foster improvements in care, safety, and efficiency. Demonstrates expertise in quality improvement methodologies, data analysis, and systems improvement to enhance clinical outcomes, value, and patient safety. This leadership role involves change management across the Heart Center and representing quality initiatives organization-wide.

Leadership Accountabilities

• Clinical Quality Outcomes: Establish high standards, drive process and outcome improvements, ensure compliance with policies and standards, attend relevant meetings.
• Strategic Growth: Communicate organizational goals, facilitate change initiatives, develop professional goals.
• Brand Identity: Uphold standards of excellence, embody organizational values, foster a positive work environment.
• Customer Satisfaction: Model service principles, ensure fulfillment in interactions.

Job Specific Duties

• Develop and revise clinical care guidelines and protocols.
• Establish patient experience standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review data for quality improvement opportunities.
• Facilitate communication among team members.
• Lead and oversee quality improvement programs and initiatives.
• Mentor staff in improvement strategies.

Organizational Support & Quality Improvement

• Supervise QI and Data teams.
• Collaborate to establish and refine QI processes.
• Align with hospital quality standards and drive high reliability principles.
• Design and employ QI tools and support data validation and management.
• Utilize PDSA cycles for workflow improvements.
• Support care teams with QI methodologies.

Competencies

Knowledge of QI methodologies, proficiency in EHR and MS Office, excellent communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and extensive QI tools experience.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board certified/eligible with Illinois medical license or ability to obtain one.
• Formal training in QI Science.
• Proven project management success, program design, and evaluation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Teams, and Epic EHR.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
