The role involves performing daily clinical operations of Echocardiography, including performing echocardiograms, entering preliminary interpretations, and covering all sites and shifts, including call coverage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Level I

• Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms, including 2D, 3D, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiograms.
• Provide echocardiography services at all necessary locations, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage.
• Operate equipment necessary for procedures and obtain optimal diagnostic recordings.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
• Analyze patient records, prepare preliminary reports, and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and assist in training students, fellows, and staff.

Level II

• Participate in patient testing, perform advanced ultrasound services, and assist with complex procedures.
• Support and mentor other staff and act as a site Charge Sonographer.

Level III

• Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound services, act as an expert resource, and ensure quality assurance and policy compliance.
• Lead educational initiatives and maintain accreditation standards.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Graduate or completed a program meeting eligibility for registry/certification or hold required credentials.
• Experience requirements vary by level, from none to a minimum of 4 years in the specialty.

Certifications

• ARDMS/CCI in Echocardiography, with certification within 18 months of hire.
• BLS certification required.
