Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Georgia seeks a Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer to join our cardiology imaging team in Augusta. Schedule is Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm, with on-call, weekend and holiday rotation. The role requires expertise in pediatric ultrasound and clinical collaboration with physicians and families.

Strong communication and patient-care skills are essential. Must meet certification requirements and be prepared to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum 1 year echocardiography experience.
• Strong communication with physicians, patients and families.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible to take call and weekend/holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Verifies proper clinician order for the procedure.
• Obtains complete clinical history and assesses contraindications.
• Administers UEAs following established procedures.
• Ensures proper patient identification and privacy.
• Reviews ultrasound images and releases patients.
• Maintains department and assists team members.
• Performs preprocedural verification and Time Out process.
• Reads emails and completes mandatory training.
• Operates ultrasound equipment and transmits studies to PACS.
• Takes call when necessary.
