Join a dynamic pediatric critical care team helping to grow a dedicated pediatric cardiac ICU within a 32-bed PICU. The Children’s Specialty Group at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) seeks a full‑time BC/BE Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Physician passionate about collaboration and innovation. In this role, you will care for general PICU and cardiac patients at Virginia’s only freestanding, independent children’s hospital in Norfolk, Virginia and work with a physician‑owned multi‑specialty group.
CHKD’s cardiac surgery program is part of a regional collaborative between CHKD and the University of Virginia (UVA), referred to as the Virginia Congenital Cardiac Collaborative. The CHKD program is supported by surgeons with over 50 years of experience, including Dr Umar Boston (Chief of Cardiac Surgery, CHKD) and Dr Phillip Smith (Surgical Director of the Fetal Care Center). Currently, 100 index cardiac surgery cases are performed each year. The planned growth with the new CICU service line is to achieve approximately 200 cases per year.
