Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Certified Asthma Educator (AE-C) to provide home-based asthma education and self-management support to pediatric patients and families following ED visits for asthma at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

The AE-C will conduct home visits within 4–7 days of discharge, teach proper inhaler use, review discharge instructions, and support environmental trigger management while documenting in EPIC and collaborating with the pediatric care team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education.
• Basic Life Support certifications: BLS from AHA or Red Cross.
• Certified Asthma Educator AE-C credential or eligibility required.

Responsibilities

• Home visits within 4–7 days of ED discharge to educate families.
• Demonstrate inhaler technique and environmental control measures.
• Document visits and care plans in EPIC and assist billing workflows.
