Job summary

Midland Health is seeking an experienced RN to provide infusion therapy to outpatient clients, focusing on patient safety and adherence to nursing standards. The role collaborates with physicians, pharmacy, and scheduling to optimize outcomes and efficiency.

Required ADN with Texas RN license and PALS; BSN preferred. Certification in chemotherapy/biotherapy is required, with at least two years of acute care experience. Pediatric/oncology infusion experience is a plus.

Qualifications

ADN required; BSN preferred.
Current Texas RN license.
PALS required.
APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider certification required.
Minimum two years of acute care nursing experience.
Pediatric, oncology, ambulatory infusion, or blood administration experience preferred.
Certification in area of specialty (e.g., Pediatric RN-BC, CPN) preferred.

Responsibilities

Complete comprehensive nursing assessments before, during, and following outpatient infusion therapies.
Review treatment plans and verify laboratory results prior to initiating therapy.
Obtain peripheral venous access and laboratory specimens, including STAT collections as indicated.
Administer chemotherapy, IVIG, albumin, biologic medications, blood products, hydration therapy, and other ordered infusion treatments according to organizational policies.
Monitor patients for infusion reactions, adverse events, and changes in clinical condition with appropriate interventions.
Coordinate patient care with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacy, laboratory, registration, and scheduling departments.
Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, medications, side effects, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
Ensure accurate documentation, medication reconciliation, charge capture, and regulatory compliance.
Assist with outpatient procedural services including the circumcision clinic as assigned.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, competency validation, and process improvements related to outpatient infusion services.
Serve as a clinical resource regarding infusion therapies, vascular access, blood administration, and outpatient workflows.
