Job summary

St. Louis Children’s Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking an RN for the Answer Line After Hours service. The role focuses on triage and nurse-led assessment for pediatric patients, with shifts in the evenings and weekends, supporting over 300 subscribing pediatricians in the St. Louis area.

The position emphasizes family-centered care, clinical judgment, and collaboration with physicians and staff. Remote work is common with some on-site requirements at the St. Louis location.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of nursing experience in ED, NICU, PICU or pediatric settings.
• RN license required.
• Part-time schedule: three 8-hour shifts, 24 hours per week.
• Holiday rotation and seasonal on-call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care and educates families on home care and medications.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Develops, implements, and documents plans of care with the interprofessional team and family.
• Assesses and evaluates patient needs, including cultural and personal preferences.
• Acknowledges safety-sensitive nature and maintains alertness in all tasks.
