Job summary

University of Michigan's Michigan Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse (Temp) for the Pediatric Pain Service in Ann Arbor. The role provides evidence-based care to pediatric patients with acute pain from surgery, trauma, or complex conditions, leveraging both pharmacological and holistic therapies.

Responsibilities include daily rounds with the Pain Service team, accurate documentation, and communication with families.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in Michigan.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Minimum of two years of acute pediatric RN experience.
• Advanced certifications (e.g., CPN, PMGT-BC, PALS) are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participates in management of pediatric patients with acute and complex pain.
• Completes daily patient care rounds with the Multidisciplinary Pain Service Team.
• Assesses pain and discomfort using age-appropriate scales and documents care plans.
• Manages analgesia modalities including PCA/NCA, epidurals, and nerve blocks.
• Educates patients and families; supports quality improvement and documentation.
