Job Summary

Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is expanding, offering an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative and dynamic critical care team. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pediatric Acute Care Advanced Practice Professional, to provide comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients. This role is ideal for clinicians who thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and are committed to delivering exceptional, family-centered care.

The PICU Acute Care APP plays a vital role in managing complex patient populations, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities*

Coordinate and manage care of critically ill pediatric patients in the intensive care setting
Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations
Collect, analyze, and interpret diagnostic data (labs, imaging, and clinical studies)
Order tests and prescribe medications within scope of practice
Perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor procedures
Collaborate with attending physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient status, evaluations, and treatments
Facilitate transfers across levels of care, including discharge planning and coordination
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental projects
Promote a collaborative, team-based approach to patient-centered care

Required Qualifications*

Required Qualifications Nurse Practitioner

Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
Current specialty certification to practice as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
AHA approved BLS certification and PALS
Current DEA registration required
Minimum of 2 years of pediatric acute or critical care clinical experience
Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
Current DEA registration required
AHA approved BLS certification and PALS
