Job Description:

The Western Kentucky University Psychology Department (www.wku.edu/psychology/) is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-track pedagogical (teaching) position in Clinical Psychology. This position will support the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Applied Psychology: Clinical Concentration program. Applications will be considered at all ranks. The position seeks a candidate who is able to teach a range of clinical psychology courses in basic and advanced psychotherapy skills and/or psychological assessment. This position does not require research responsibilities.

Responsibilities for the position include teaching clinical psychology courses (4 total courses per semester), advising graduate students, providing clinical expertise to dissertation and thesis projects, and possibly assisting with practicum and internship placements and supervision. Additional responsibilities include serving on program, department, college and university committees, and other duties as assigned.

In addition to the Psy.D. program, the Department of Psychology has an undergraduate major in psychology, a Master's program in clinical psychology, and a NASP-approved Specialist in Education program in school psychology. WKU's Department of Psychology is committed to initiatives pertaining to first generation students and promoting inclusive excellence overall.


Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess an earned doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited institution;
  • Candidate must have completed an internship in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • Candidate must be licensed or license eligible in Kentucky
  • Candidate must demonstrate basic competency to teach courses in the MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology program

*Note: To be eligible for clinical incentive pay, the candidate must be licensed in Kentucky and have designation as a Health Service Psychologist (HSP).

Associate Professor

  • Candidate must possess an earned doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited educational institution;
  • Candidate must have completed an internship in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • Candidate must be already licensed in another state, licensed or license eligible in Kentucky, and have designation as a Health Service Psychologist (HSP).
  • Candidate must have 5+ years of practicing as a licensed psychologist
  • Candidate must have prior experience supervising psychology trainees or unlicensed psychologists
  • Candidate must have 5+ years in rank of Assistant Professor at another institution
  • Candidate must demonstrate a strength in teaching as evidenced by teaching evaluations

Full Professor

  • Candidate must possess an earned doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited educational institution;
  • Candidate must have completed an internship in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
  • Candidate must be already licensed in another state, licensed or license eligible in Kentucky, and have designation as a Health Service Psychologist (HSP).
  • Candidate must have 10+ years of practicing as a licensed psychologist
  • Candidate must have prior experience supervising psychology trainees or unlicensed psychologists
  • Candidate must have 10+ years in rank of Associate Professor at another institution
  • Candidate must demonstrate a strength in teaching as evidenced by teaching evaluations
