Job Description

The PACU Registered Nurse provides nursing care to our pediatric patients within the recovery room, performs assessments and interventions designed to keep the patients safe after surgery. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role and quality improvement efforts. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.

Key Responsibilities:

• Involves patient, family, and health careteam members in formulating an appropriate individualized plan of care and identifies expected outcomes based on nursing assessment and diagnosis.


• Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family, and health care team members.


• Ensures all components of the plan of care are documented in the patient health record.


• Evaluates the patient/family’s understanding of and response to the plan of care.


• Utilizes teaching strategies appropriateto the individual patient’s condition and learning needs.

Required Qualifications:

• BSN or in progress


• Texas RN license


• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the pediatric specialty of the hospital which may include: Maternal/Child, Orthopaedic, Burn Rehabilitation


• Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
