Job summary

HBC Engineering Company is seeking a Structural Engineer, PE, to lead advisory services, structural design, specifications, drawings, and schedules for transportation infrastructure projects in Florida. You will work with clients, contractors, and internal teams while guiding bridge and miscellaneous structures assignments from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering preferred.
• 5–20 years of experience on FDOT or other state transportation agency projects is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida is required.
• Experience with design concepts, calculations, drawings, and specs.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex transportation and structural engineering projects with a proactive approach that adapts to changing project conditions.
• Provide client liaison and represent HBC in technical meetings with clients, contractors, municipalities, utility companies, and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate subconsultants and gather project information necessary to advance transportation and structures assignments.
• Develop design concepts, criteria, engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and schedules for structural deliverables.
• Lead highway bridge and miscellaneous structures design efforts with client and contractor partners.
• Support bridge inspection, maintenance evaluations, and related advisory services.
• Prepare contract documents, including plans, specifications, and permit/approval applications.
• Provide bid-phase support and post-design services during construction.
• Apply independent judgment to field design changes while managing multiple projects.
• Supervise junior staff and provide technical guidance for development.
