Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Vans LLC in Charleston, SC is seeking a Paint Shop Rework Technician to perform paintless dent repairs using PDR techniques on exterior vehicle surfaces, following company standards.

Requires 4+ years of relevant experience or a certificate with 3 years; preferred 5+ years; High School Diploma or GED; knowledge of metal finishing and sheet metal repair; hands-on manufacturing environment experience; I-CAR training a plus; strong teamwork.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years relevant experience; OR Relevant certificate + 3 years relevant experience; OR Relevant
• Preferred: 5+ years relevant experience; OR Relevant certificate + 4 years relevant experience; OR Relevant assoc.
• Degree + 2 years relevant experience
• Able to perform the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

• File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
• Pound out small dents with a hammer, pick hammer, or punch.
• Identifies the most appropriate option / solution to adjust or improve existing approaches.
• Plan work to be performed.
• Position dolly blocks against surfaces of dented areas and beat opposite surfaces to remove dents, using hammers, metal
• Completes and ensures availability of appropriate documentation related to the production process.
• Perform quality and visual inspection.
• May modify existing processes, methods, and approaches.
• Completes and ensures availability of appropriate documentation related to the production process.
• Identifies the most appropriate option / solution to adjust or improve existing approaches.
• May be required to interpret or clarify technical information to aid understanding.
• Provides guidance, coaching, and direction to more junior team members on the job.
• Participate in the Continuous Improvement Program.
• Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings.
• Will perform other duties as assigned
