PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Lorain, Ohio (44053) – Ohio healthcare jobs
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing – PCU/Stepdown
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown (1W)
• Shift: 12-hour Nights
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Length: 13-16 weeks
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 on nights (acuity dependent)
• Patient Population: Cardiac telemetry, vascular, med-surg, post-cath, post-pacemaker
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570–$1680
  
  

PCU Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Stepdown RN experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required
• Ability to pass a Dysrhythmia Exam (study guide provided)
• Experience with cardiac drips, airway management (trachs, BiPAP, CPAP), and lines/devices (PICC, dialysis catheters, chest tubes)
• Proficiency in reading and verifying telemetry strips in EPIC
• Navy blue scrubs required
  
  

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications and manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, Heparin, Insulin)
• Monitor and manage patients with multi-system organ failure or trauma in a clinical support setting
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and advocate for patients
• Read and verify telemetry strips once per shift in EPIC
• Educate patients and families, providing support throughout illness and treatment
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and compassionate healthcare environment
• Respond promptly to rapidly changing patient conditions and medical emergencies
