Job summary

Five Star Nursing (FSN) in New York is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This role provides intermediate-acuity care to mixed patient populations transitioning from ICU or requiring closer monitoring.

You will work night shifts, 4x12-hour shifts per week, with responsibilities including assessments, medication administration, wound care, and collaboration with physicians and care teams to plan mobilization, discharge, and recovery.

Qualifications

• BSN or equivalent degree required.
• PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years required.
• Valid RN license with current BLS and ACLS.
• PCCN certification preferred.
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and cardiac/critical care nursing.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to intermediate-acuity patients, including those on telemetry, IV therapy, and oxygen.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments and escalate deterioration promptly.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and case managers for mobilization, discharge planning, and recovery.
• Administer medications, provide wound care, respiratory treatments, and manage IV/Central/PICC lines and feeding tubes.
• Monitor and titrate cardiac and insulin drips; manage blood products and specialized equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC or other EHR systems.
