Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the 1 East Psych unit in Trinity Health Ann Arbor. The role focuses on direct patient care under RN supervision, assisting with ADLs, mobility, and feeding while maintaining a safe, healing environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of direct care experience or completion of CENA/PCT/MA/EMT coursework; student nurses must have completed BSN fundamentals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year direct care experience or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patients in completing ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation with assistive devices and feeding/menus.
• Collects and sends specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts/removes peripheral IV catheters; records patient information for documentation.
• 1 East is a locked 36-bed unit serving patients 18 and older.
• Care criteria include life-threatening symptoms and potential risk to self or others.
• Patients are admitted through Psychiatric Access in the Emergency Department; face-to-face assessments and transfers may occur.

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

6:30 am-3:00pm

Status Available

Full-time

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What You Will Do

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• 1 East is a locked 36 bed, secured unit and services patients 18 through older adult.
• Services criteria includes the presence of life threatening and/or severely incapacitating symptoms and Potential of harm to self or others is considered serious.
• Patients are admitted Through Psychiatric Access department in the Emergency Department at THAA. In most cases face to-face assessments will be required and in other cases transfers or direct admissions from other locations may occur.
