Job summary

Trinity Health in Ann Arbor is looking for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse in the 1 East Psych unit. Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, maintaining a safe patient environment, and supporting family wellbeing.

The role requires completing an education pathway (high school diploma or GED) and either prior care experience or completion of CENA/PCT/MA/EMT programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• 1 East is a locked 36 bed, secured unit and services patients 18 through older adult.
• Services criteria includes the presence of life threatening and/or severely incapacitating symptoms and Potential of harm to self or others is considered serious.
• Patients are admitted Through Psychiatric Access department in the Emergency Department at THAA. In most cases face to-face assessments will be required and in other cases transfers or direct admissions from other locations may occur.

Required Education / Licensure

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.
