Job summary

IHA in collaboration with Trinity Health Ann Arbor seeks a Patient Care Tech (PCT), CNA, or MA to support the 5 East Ortho & Neuro unit. This role provides direct patient care under RN supervision, focusing on age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care.

Shifts include 6:30 am-3:00 pm, 2:30 pm-11:00 pm, and 10:30 pm-7:00 am. Education requirements include a HS diploma or GED, plus one year of direct care or relevant certs; student nurses may qualify with BSN fundamentals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of direct care experience or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
• Collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and insert/remove peripheral IV catheters.
• Care for Ortho post-operative patients and those with neurologic conditions.

Education

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available

6:30 am-3:00pm; 2:30pm-11:00pm, 10:30pm-7:00am

Status

Full-time, Part-time

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What You Will Do

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• Ortho patients, post- total joint procedure, and fracture care. We also care for patients with a range of neurologic conditions.
