Job summary

Jobot is seeking a highly technical PCB/PCBA Subject Matter Expert to join a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment in Naugatuck, CT. This on-site, permanent role focuses on chemistry, processes, and real-time problem solving on PCB/PCBA production lines.

You will work closely with Production and Engineering to optimize yields, troubleshoot defects, and drive quality improvements as a hands-on expert.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of SMT/PCBA manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on production-floor expertise, not design.
• Deep knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-600.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve defects in real time.
• Experience in ITAR-regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for PCB and PCBA processes.
• Troubleshoot defects on the manufacturing floor in real time.
• Partner with Production and Engineering daily.
• Analyze non-conformances and drive yield improvements.
• Support continuous improvements across processes, materials, and equipment.

A bit about us:

We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on PCB / PCBA Process Engineer to join a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. This is not a design role—it is a deeply technical, floor-facing position focused on the chemistry, processes, and real-time problem-solving within PCB and PCBA manufacturing. This individual will serve as a go-to expert and “do-er”, working side-by-side with Production and Engineering teams to optimize processes, troubleshoot issues, and drive quality and yield improvements. This is a high-visibility role with significant impact across operations.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes
• Provide hands-on, real-time troubleshooting of manufacturing defects and process issues
• Partner directly with Production and Engineering teams on the manufacturing floor daily
• Analyze, diagnose, and disposition non-conformances and quality issues
• Drive improvements in yield, process stability, and overall product quality
• Serve as a technical authority on SMT processes and PCB/PCBA manufacturing best practices
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across process, materials, and equipment

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of direct experience in SMT and PCB/PCBA manufacturing environments
• Strong hands-on background in PCB/PCBA production (not design-focused)
• Deep working knowledge of: IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) and IPC-A-600 (Acceptability of Printed Boards)
• Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve manufacturing defects in real time
• Experience working on the production floor in a highly technical capacity
• Strong understanding of process chemistry and materials involved in PCB/PCBA manufacturing
• ITAR eligibility required; experience working in an ITAR-regulated environment is a strong plus

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) environments
• Exposure to high-mix, high-complexity manufacturing
• Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable improvements
