Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced SMT Process Engineer to optimize our PCB/PCBA manufacturing operations on the production floor in Huntington, CT. This hands-on role focuses on placement, reflow, inspection, and continuous improvement to drive yield and throughput.

You will partner with Production, Quality and Engineering to implement CAPA, validate new equipment and materials, and lead line optimization initiatives in a fast-growing environment with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in SMT process engineering for PCB/PCBA manufacturing.
• Proficient in SMT placement, reflow soldering, and thermal profiling.
• Experience with line optimization, yield improvements, and data analysis.
• Hands-on, floor-based mindset; ITAR eligible.

Responsibilities

• Own and optimize SMT manufacturing processes, including placement, reflow, and inspection.
• Develop and refine reflow profiles to ensure product quality and stability.
• Troubleshoot process, equipment, and quality issues on the production floor.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Own and optimize SMT manufacturing processes, including placement, reflow, and inspection
• Develop and refine reflow profiles to ensure product quality and process stability
• Troubleshoot process, equipment, and quality issues in real time on the production floor
• Drive line optimization efforts to improve throughput, efficiency, and first-pass yield
• Analyze defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives across SMT operations
• Support process automation and modernization efforts to enhance scalability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges
• Assist in validation and implementation of new equipment, materials, and processes

Required Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of SMT process engineering experience within PCB/PCBA manufacturing
• Strong expertise in:
  • SMT placement equipment and processes
  • Reflow soldering & thermal profiling
  • Troubleshooting SMT line issues and defects
• Proven experience with:
  • Line optimization and process improvements
  • Yield improvement initiatives
  • Manufacturing data analysis and root cause problem solving
• Hands‑on, floor‑based mindset with the ability to drive solutions in real time
• Experience supporting automation and production scaling efforts
• ITAR eligibility required; experience working in an ITAR‑regulated environment is a strong plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-mix, low-to-medium volume environments
• Exposure to AOI/X-ray inspection systems
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple teams
