Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer PCB designs and provide DFM feedback.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes for PCB fabrication and assembly operations.
• Support NPI activities from prototype through production release.
• Collaborate with customers, engineering, quality, and production to resolve issues.
• Review Gerber files, fabrication drawings, and stack-ups for accuracy and feasibility.
• Troubleshoot yield, quality, and process issues using root cause analysis.
• Identify opportunities for cycle time, scrap, automation, and cost improvements.
• Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and process flows.
• Support PCB fabrication including imaging, etching, drilling, plating, lamination, solder mask, finishes, routing, inspection.
• Support PCB assembly including SMT, through-hole, reflow, AOI, X-Ray, testing, and box build.

We are seeking a PCB Manufacturing Engineer to support the manufacturing, process development, and continuous improvement of printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication and assembly operations. This individual will play a critical role in bridging engineering and production by ensuring manufacturability, improving process efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and supporting customers from prototype through full-scale production.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PCB fabrication and/or PCB assembly processes, a strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and a passion for solving complex manufacturing challenges within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate customer PCB designs and provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes for PCB fabrication and assembly operations.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities from prototype through production release.
• Collaborate with customers, engineering teams, quality personnel, and production teams to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
• Review Gerber files, fabrication drawings, stack-ups, and manufacturing documentation for accuracy and feasibility.
• Troubleshoot yield, quality, and process-related issues using root cause analysis methodologies.
• Identify opportunities for cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, automation, and cost improvement.
• Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, process flows, and engineering change orders.
• Support PCB fabrication processes including imaging, etching, drilling, plating, lamination, solder mask, surface finishes, routing, and final inspection.
• Support PCB assembly processes including SMT, through-hole assembly, reflow soldering, AOI, X-Ray inspection, testing, and box build integration.
• Work closely with quality teams to ensure compliance with IPC standards and customer requirements.
• Participate in PFMEA, control plans, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with capacity planning, tooling development, and equipment qualification activities.
• Support supplier and component-related technical evaluations when required.

Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in PCB manufacturing, PCB fabrication, EMS, or electronics manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and materials.
• Experience reviewing Gerber files, fabrication drawings, and stack-up requirements.
• Knowledge of IPC standards including IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Proficiency using CAD viewers, manufacturing documentation, and engineering tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Experience in high-mix, low-volume and prototype manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, medical device, automotive, or industrial electronics customers.
• Familiarity with SMT manufacturing processes and automated inspection technologies (AOI, SPI, X-Ray).
• Knowledge of RF, HDI, flex, rigid-flex, or multilayer PCB technologies.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience working within ISO 9001, ITAR, or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
