Job summary

Programming.com seeks an experienced PCB Layout Engineer to contribute as an individual contributor on leading-edge optical communication products. You will develop PCB and substrate layouts, ensure IPC/DFM compliance, and collaborate across engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.

The role requires a strong hands-on background in high-density, high-speed layouts and advanced packaging technologies, including microvias, CPW, and power-converter layouts for processors and GPUs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification is required.
• 10+ years of PCB board and/or package substrate layout experience is required.
• Expert-level Cadence Allegro PCB Design tools experience is required.
• Strong hands-on experience with high-density, high-speed PCB and substrate designs is expected.
• Experience with HDI, stacked micro-vias, sequential lamination, and fine-pitch BGA technologies is required.
• Experience designing multilayer, high-density organic substrates and advanced component packages is expected.
• Understanding of transmission-line geometries (microstrip, stripline, CPW) is needed.
• Experience with multiphase DC-DC power converter layouts for processors/GPUs is desired.
• Strong knowledge of PCB fabrication, assembly, DFM, and tolerances is essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal, Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, and Manufacturing teams.

• Support complex high-density and high-speed PCB/substrate designs.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification with 10+ years of relevant PCB board and/or package substrate layout experience.
• Expert-level experience with Cadence Allegro PCB Design tools.
• Strong hands-on experience with high-density, high-speed PCB and substrate designs.

• Experience with mSAP PCB layout design.
• Experience with optical pluggable products such as CFP2, QSFP-DD, and OSFP.
• Experience with Cadence SiP tools and substrate layout techniques.
• Experience with Wire Bond component layouts.
• Knowledge of IPC Class 2/3, JEDEC, and related industry standards.
