Job summary

Benchmark Electronics is seeking a reliable PCB assembler to join our Minnesota manufacturing team. You will read assembly prints, follow procedures, and assemble PCBs of intermediate complexity with care and accuracy.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year hardware assembly experience, can use hand tools, and identify defects. This role emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and safety in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; 1+ years of experience in hardware and/or simple optics assembly activities.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
  • Ability to use hand tools and associated devices to manufacture PCBs and other electronic assemblies.
  • Ability to learn and master all tasks associated with PCB assembly that are assigned.
  • Ability to identify electronic components.
  • Ability to identify solder non-conformance and correct them.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and renew certifications on assigned equipment and willingness to cross-train in other areas.
  • Participate in a continuous improvement activity.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in the manufacturing of PCBs.
  • Identifies workmanship and material defects in touch-up and assembly areas and may suggest changes to work instructions.
  • Performs tasks with a high degree of care and attention to detail while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Assembles electronic components, assemblies, and modules from samples, visual aids, wiring lists and process sheets.
  • Maintains accurate material control within the work area.
  • Performs inspection of own work in the immediate unit.
  • Provides timely feedback to other operations, management and support engineering as appropriate.
  • Follows and maintains accurate process documentation.
  • Assemble PCBs of intermediate complexity.
  • May use a variety of tools to perform tasks.
  • Serve as a mentor to lesser skilled employees.
  • Participate in a continuous improvement activity.
